I am new here on the board.....it's nice to see so many great, honest posts. Hi everyone!

Being a "frequent shopper" at the Farmer's and Craft Market, I did not see a thread started for it. so I thought I'd be the one!

Does anyone go to it? I just love it so much......the vendors are so nice and friendly. I am sure to go on Wed and Saturdays also.

If you do not go, you are missing something great. I hear that it's one of the largest ones in the country and has been around for over 30 years.

And, if you have favorite vendors, crafts people, talk about them here!

Thanks for letting me join everyone. I look forward to meeting everyone!!

It sounds like something I will look into when I visit. Thanks for letting us know.

Hi Nancy,

You may have to ask for directions, but it is in the downtown area....or what used to be "downtown". But they are revitalizing it. If you know Coas Bookstore, then you are there!

Where do you live that you have to "visit"?

Being from Alamogordo, I plan trips to LC on Wed or Sat. so I can go to the Farmers Market. I really feel it has grown in the last few years. Enjoy it!

Thanks for asking , amber . I just retired in June and I live on Long Island. I am looking for a new city in which to start the second chapter of my life and Las Cruces in high on the list.

I love the farmers market, too. Here's a little info., for anyone that might have specific questions...directions, or even want to become a vendor.

Las Cruces Farmers' & Crafts Market
Location: Downtown Mall
Schedule: Saturdays & Wednesdays, 8 am - 12:30 pm
Market Season: Year round
Contact: Olivia Hennessey, (575) 541-2288

There's also the Mountain View Market, Farmer's Market on Sundays: http://www.livingnaturally.com/PDFDo...LHDTV5FSF0.PDF The vendors here are also local!

eh, it's mostly a "crafts market" and less so a farmer's market.

But if you go, you gotta get some of the jellies from Kuhn Farm!

Which vendors do you like then?

I like the stained glass lady...she does neat stuff with glass plates and teacups; I like the New Mexico Soaps people..they have chile soap, salsa soap and other southwest unique designs and soap dishes, and some great $3 bar soaps; some of the seamstresses are great, like the neat kitchen towels with buttons to attach to kitchen drawers; there's a lady who paints on really cute balloon whirly-gigs and makes mousepads with her own artwork on them; some of the jewelry is the most unique; healthy soy wax candles...so many things!

I just love it all! Enjoying and visiting local folks and you know, somewhat, that the products are supporting them instead of other countries!

If you go to the Farmer's Market don't go on a Wednesday, we did and were greatly disappointed. There were about 6 vendors there. Later we were told we should have gone on Saturday, wish I knew that beforehand.

Wow, Norm. Did you go during the winter season? when I go there must be at least 40-50 vendors on Wednesday!

yes, even though it is much leaner on Wed., it's still alive! I love it 'cause I can browse so much more easily. But I can understand if you are an out-of-towner. Living in town is easier to go on both days!

When you go back, try it again!!!
