Default Cell Phone Service in Las Cruces

How is the cell phone service in Las Cruces? I am wondering because when I visited Taos last year with a group of 6 other people, the only person able to use her call phone was the one with Verizon. We were told it was because of "the mountains". Anyway, does this problem exist in LC? thanks

When I was in Last Cruces a couple of weeks ago, I used my cell phone all the time (Cingular) without any problems. Las Cruces is not as mountainous as Taos.
