Well, you know I was TrC and Las Cruces all year until October. I don't even remember being hot. I remember it being a pretty pleasant summer. I don't mind days around 100 or so, but yes, I do consider that hot.
I like being hot, oh, and I have your favorite, AC, in my RV, which is included in my $4/day park price. Can't beat that! Think about it, less than $150/month, including electric!

That is a good price for sure. My parents used to travel extensively in their RV, all over the continental US, and hung it up about 4 years ago, when Daddy turned 80.
I do mind days around 100.....but fortunately, Alamo only got to 100-103 three times last summer, when where I moved from hit 113, so I didn't complain quite so much. Where my sister lives south of Austin had 42 consecutive days of 100 or worse last summer. Ugh!!!
I would love to be where summers don't get above 80 very often, but I probably couldn't tolerate the winters!

I am used to refrigerated air. That's all we have in NY/NJ. Too many years spent freezing in offices, being blasted by frigid air from retailers doorways and the inevitable AC 'sickness' that I was sure to suffer from every summer.
Refrigerated air feels brittle to me, I can't think of any other way to describe it.
Last summer was the first time in my life that I didn't suffer from any of the above.

That's good that it worked out so well for you.
I do hear you on the too-cold settings. I kept a sweater in my office, and usually spent part of the day wearing it.
I set my thermostat here at 74 for the summer--and have big 52+ ceiling fans, so I stay more or less comfortable.
What I really hate is going into some businesses that have evaporative only during the hottest part of the summer. They only cool to about 20 degrees below the outside temperature...and when it is 100 outside, 80-82 isn't very comfortable.
Swamp coolers also bring in outside allergens, and they can smell musty/moldy.

Yep, I went refrigerated air in this house last year. I had it on two times this year, on warm days, just to make sure it was going to work..

I haven't had mine on yet....it's nice and cool here this am, 54. This spring weather has been so much better than what Jan-Feb were.
Do we dare hope for a cooler summer than last year?

There were two days last month when my house was 77 degrees, so I just had to try the AC....
Beautiful today here. It was 47, the sun is out and bright, and no wind... Lot of mud encountered during my dog walk, so stayed on the road areas.
I have some old friends down in LC that I want to visit..

I have been using my ceiling fans a lot in the hottest part of the afternoon, so that helps for now.
I may be going to LC for Sam's Club before long...and will be in search of a decent Mexican restaurant!!
After coming back from TX, I realize just how bland most of the food in Alamogordo is. Sometimes the restaurants are pretty good, and then you turn around the next visit, and they're not fit to eat.
Just drives me crazy. At least LC and Ruidoso have some good places, along with Casa de Suenos in Tulie.
