Default Is Sunland Park in NM or TX?

My husband recently accepted a promotion and we have to move to El Paso, TX. In the job details it says he HAS to reside in TX within a 30 minute drive of the office in El Paso. So we were looking at the Sunland Park area, but according to GooGle it is Sunland Park, NM.
Does anyone here know about the area?

Sunland Park is one of three incorporated towns in Dona Ana County NM (the others being Las Cruces and Hatch). It is shoehorned between El Paso and Anrapa Mexico. Sunland Park is wholly in the orbit of El Paso, in spite of being legally in New Mexico. The border issues here are dicey because of "The Country Club Dispute": Country Club Dispute - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rio Grande essentially changed paths after a flood, and parts of Sunland Park became part of Texas. So, there is a new boundary that is technically a land boundary dividing parts of Sunland Park and El Paso. The river's current flow does not dilineate the two boundaries today.

There are four incorporated communities in Dona Ana County. Mesilla is incorporated too.

Sunland Park, though I love some people down there, is more like Mexico than Texas or NM. It is, however, in NM. The part of El Paso/El Paso County east of SP is actually very nice. Much nicer than Sunland Park.

Sunland Park is a little town right on the Mexican border, mostly Spanish speaking and in New Mexico. It's not really a place for people who just got a job promotion unless it wasn't a very good promotion.

You'd be better off looking at Canutillo if you're looking to live just outside El Paso but still in Texas.

Is Canutillo a neighborhood or suburb? Do you know the area code?

Canutillo is an unincorporated town on El Paso's westside, along the Rio Grande border with New Mexico. You would probably get better information on the El Paso forum.

Santa Teresa, for a subdivision house, would be a good choice or the valley, for more rural feel, north of SP in either state. Some very, very nice houses in the valley (including cielo dorado with flyin facilities) and beautiful farming country side.
