Dona Ana Country Rural Noise Ordinances? (appointed, apartment, lease)

I just moved out of the city limits into the country.

In the city limits, if there was a loud party or someone playing their stereo loud enough for the entire neighborhood to hear it, I could call the cops and they would shut the noisemaker down.

Is there a similar ordinance for the county outside the city limits?

I hate to waste a sheriff deputy's time with such a thing, but it seems like every Saturday some neighbor to the south of me either has a loud party or simply plays his stereo too loud for hours on end. I can hear the noise at my house, which seems to be over a mile away from the actual noise. I am actively trying to find out who it is, but because this is a rural area I have as yet been unable to locate the exact house.

What are my options?

If the noise is coming from over a mile away, how loud can it be? Are you being a little hyper-sensitive?

Maybe not that loud. It's just that if you are expecting just
the noise of the wind and birds in your country estate, it
wouldn't take much volume to be annoying.

OTOH, it could be that the land forms are channeling already
too-loud music really well there. The beauty of it is that it will
just get worse because said 'party-er' has probably already ruined
their hearing listening to loud music all their lives and never got
the connection between their bad hearing and the music, so
just keeps turning it up-and-up-and-up.

It just shows you that you can't escape that kind of stuff.

It might be time to plant some more trees, however.

And there are already trees.

I know this guy's parties annoy the neighbors that are nearer than me. There are nights when the noise comes to an abrupt stop like someone has asked him to turn it down. I have driven around, and it's one of the houses in a dense area so that it's hard to pinpoint exactly which house. I'd also have to drive down a private road to find out for sure. I don't want to be the one to trespass.

Sound carries in this area. How loud is it from a mile away? I'd compare it to someone washing his car with the doors open and the stereo blasting from down your own street if you lived in the city.

I really was hoping I'd get replies to this thread giving me some useful advice. I'm disappointed that what I've gotten is mocking and questioning MY right to not be disturbed.

It just goes to show any punk can get away with anything now, but let somebody complain and that person is considered the jerk.

That is a shame...

Dona Ana County does have some ordinances online, however I could not figure them out.

I would call the Dona Ana County Clerk and just ask, and see what they say. Unfortunately there are a lot of areas where this situation exists.

That's generally the defense. I had a neighbor who was so bad about that - that I was going to break the lease. It turns out that she was such a scumbag (as the party-er with the bad hearing probably is) that she was late on all her utilities and rent and was only a day from being served notice from the landlord.

She would come in her side of the duplex at 1-2 am and party till dawn.

It made it impossible to sleep.

Naturally, I was just a hypersensitive jerk. That was the excuse. She lectured the landlord (as he was kicking her out) that he was "going to have problems with me" in the future (since I was so troublesome).

She also caused a lot of damage to the apartment.

The new neighbor was quiet and considerate and an excellent guitar player.

In the boonies - where you live - people move there explicitly because ...

They want to be able to have large numbers of barking dogs, play their music really loud, etc. without being bothered by rules and stuff.

The SOL part is probably correct.
