I know exactly what you mean. When I first visited the SW and then went back to NJ, the air felt absolutely oppressive to me. I'm sure it is a combination of the elevation here and the low humidity. At 10pm last night, humidity was at 2%!
Until I visited here, I had no idea that was even possible

Wisteria........Also kinda nice is the bosque along the Rio Grande there in las cruces and the state parks along the Rio Grande some 20 minutes north as there are trails, picnic areas, swimming and fishing etc..

Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park

Leasburg State Park

Percha Dam Stae Park

Today I was definitely thinking about LC. It was cloudy, some sprinkles, and humid. It was yucky.

tecpatl .....I'm going to spill a food secret here: On weekdays the Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism Management program at NMSU serves lunch at 100 West Cafe in the west end of G. Thomas Hall.

The lunches and international dinners wax and wane with the school year, so they might be done until Fall. Be sure to contact NMSU and find out before going. They post menus and schedules on their website. It's worth the wait.

Evidently, there are now at least three of us (myself included) who plead guilty to this seemingly insane pleasure. The difference is I usually don't resort to the AC at all, just drive around and enjoy roasting myself.
