Default Thinking of moving to Las Cruces Or TruthOC

Hi there,

thinking of moving to Las Cruces or Truth or Consequences.

I am wondering about growing my own veggies... how do people do that in the desert.....

Any advice on which place is best for a couple with no children who are spiritually minded and enjoy a vegetarian healthy lifestyle?

Any other thoughts or where would be good to relocate? We really are looking for peace and tranquility, a couple or acres and good farmer's markets.

any help would mean a lot

I'm sure that you will find those quiet and peaceful areas that you want, however I have my resevations about the possibility of growing your own vegetables. Remember that water is scarce in New Mexico because it rains less that in other parts of the country and that vegetables require lots of water, even grass is hard to grow there. Unless you built a green house, you might not be able to grow tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers. Of course if nothing works, you can always plant your own chiles and tunas (the fruit of the cactus).

Default Growing Veggies

We are going to move as soon as we sell our place to NM, now on to growing, you can grow with raised beds and use your own growing medium you choose. Yes water is a problem, but you can recycle Grey water and utilize it for growing, if you need to filter it a bit so be it, read up on it and it shall work.Maybe locate near to a decent water availability area, like rivers or streams, so you can drill your own well. We have the greatest clean clear well water here we will miss. We learned to raise our own hens and the eggs are so fresh , look into it as well .Best wishes.

Thanks for your answers....

They were very helpful....

To anyone living in NM, besides Sante Fe, is there another town that has a lo of yoga and health food stores etc.,?

Please let me know as we are trying to figure out the best place to move to.

Many thanks!
