Do you have any experience with Lemongrass? I've had some very disappointing "Thai" food there, and haven't been very interested in going back. And Thai is some of my favorite food.
I love the pad thai and red/green curry at lemongrass... they are my favorite of any thai restaurant I've been to. Some of the other food isn't as good, and they can be extremely slow. We went to the place in Organ and it was good, but for curry and pad thai we prefer lemongrass.

I'll give Lemongrass another shot...maybe they have a new chef or manager. I sure hope it's better than my last visit some time ago. Thanks.

Isn't that why we are such a nation of 'movers.'?
I can't remember but I think there is a study that showed near 80plus% never move from their hometown. I wouldn't call that a nation of movers.

I've also heard good word-of-mouth reviews about the Thai place in Organ. I've been tempted to visit during one of my weekend treks out to the flea market. Did anyone happen to notice if they offer tofu on their menu...particularly Pad Thai with tofu? One of my favorite dishes.

I went to Lemongrass once and walked out 2 minutes later. Totally beyond my budget and just too foo-foo for my style. I suppose I'm used to the big city and being able to choose from a handful of family-run Thai restaurants that make kickass Pad Thai for 6 or 7 bucks...to pay 14 bucks for the same thing in Las Cruces turned me off. Is it the white tablecloths that justify such high prices?

Happy July 4 to you as well
I do have to note that it does get cold here in the winter, but, it is not oppressively cold, and it doesn't last that long.
Hope this is helpful:

Retiring To Las Cruces
What is a Las Cruces winter like, using degrees? Just curious because I will be living in Las Cruces soon. I visited in December 2008 and it was cold, but I visited during a cold snap. Based on average temperatures, Las Cruces seems much warmer than where I am now. I know Las Cruces is at least warm enough to have palm trees.

LC is barely warm enough to allow some hardy palms to survive.
The coldest night I can recall in 5 winters was 18 F. A lot of the local palms looked pretty sad until May/June as a result of that night.
Citrus is out of the question, and most nights in Mid Dec thru Jan are at or below freezing. Daytimes warm up due to that magic sun.
People thing Southwest and think warm...but 3,800 feet is still fairly high altitude.

I moved from Northern New Jersey, lived in Brooklyn prior to that. I can say, without any hesitation, that even at its coldest, Las Cruces never feels as cold as it does in the northeast. It may snow a bit, but, even then, because the air is dry, you won't get that brutal, damp-through-your-clothes feeling that is so common in the mid-atlantic/new england states. And, no cold, wet feet.
Also, winter is relatively short here. Some of the trees start blooming in late Feb/early March, which were the absolutely worst months for me back east.
Depending on how sensitive you are to cold, you still may want a coat in the early morning/late evening, but, by mid-afternoon when the sun is high, you may be fine in a jacket or sweater.
Coming from Mass., I think you will be amazed at how 'easy' winter can be
