It might be a good thing as they close out the season with Boise State as they will most likely win the WAC. I always follow the WAC and Mtn. West conferences as well as the NFL. I'm like you, I'm ready for football! NMSU was 3-9 last year. Training camp is 5 weeks off, though. It'll be cranking before you know it!
Question Ibarrio, is Charlie Johnson still working with the quarterbacks on the squad? I met Charlie in his last couple years with the Denver Broncos.

He is a professor in the Engineering department (Chemical) but he is no longer listed on the coaches page. I'm sure he will still be working with the team but not as a full time coach.

I think Timm Rosenbach (quarterback formerly of the Arizona Cardinals) is going to be quarterbacks coach.
Speaking of 'death sentence' games, I was reading in the LCSN that in 2011, the Aggies are going to Athens GA to play the Bulldogs. I think that is also a late season game. I think this is part of McKinley Boston's long term strategy of hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with regard to nationally televised games and perspective national recruits.

Whazzup Mike0421? I remember Rosenbach well, as he was the Cardinals #1 draft choice in 1989, I believe. Had a lot of potential but injuries right off the get go really shortened his career.

I also read in Pro Football Weekly a column (way back in 1994) by Fred Edelstein that the real reason he retired was he wanted to try rodeo, but a lot of GMs around the league didn't want to touch him because he was known for having a drinking problem. Don't know how substantiated that claim was.

I'm wondering if those first few seasons with the Cardinals didn't start his drinking problem! lol
Seriously, I didn't know that!

Pistol Pete
New Mexico State’s mascot, known as Pistol Pete comes from a real western gunman in the late 1800’s named Frank Eaton. As a child, Eaton’s father was killed by members of the Regulators. By the age of 15, Eaton had become a quickdraw and a marksman and went to Fort Gibson, Oklahoma to improve his shooting skills. It was at the fort where he gained the nickname Pistol Pete. In a fair gunfight in 1881 in Albuquerque, Pistol Pete killed the last of the six men responsible for his father’s murder.
