I'm getting ready to move to Las Cruces next month but there's one important thing I completely forgot to find out about and that's hospitals in Las Cruces. Is there at least one big major good hospital in Las Cruces? I couldn't move there if there wasn't because my mother who is moving with me is 87 and I don't drive and wouldn't be able to get to El Paso Texas if that was the nearest decent hospital?
Until a few years ago we only had one and it was sub-par but the arrival of Mountain View has really caused a change for the better in Memorial Medical. Competition was good in this case. MV is privately held while Memorial is partly funded by the city/county (indigent care) so the ER at MV will likely provide quicker service. MV has private rooms which is a big plus in my eyes.
Memorial is at the southern end of Telshor, and there are quite a few medical offices along there as well, so, if you do end up finding an apartment on Telshor, you'll be in pretty close proximity.
Good luck at Memorial. I had back surgery in Dec in spent 4 days there. I am a vegetarian and told them when i registered. First night: chicken dinner. I sent the tray away. Called down to the food service and asked "do you make your veggi burger on the same grill and the meat". They cheerfully replied "yes". Ugh, so much for that. It was hopeless. In 4 days, I ate almost nothing. Also had terrible nursing care. I was hooked up to all sorts of tubes: legs, IV, O2. On the 2nd day a nurse threw some towels at me and said "go wash yourself". Bed was changed only once. One night I was really ill and rang for a nurse. When I told her something was very wrong I was told I had my choice of a hot or a cold compress. I didn't need a compress; I felt ghastly. Finally, on day 4 the doc said he had to get me out of there because I was now anemic and I didn't loose enough blood during surgery to be so. It was awful. My advice - do everything you can to stay healthy and stay out of the hospital.
Does anybody know about good doctors for women health?
