Ohhhh, I LOVE Palominos! My uncle had one many years ago. They are awesome! I am in Phoenix though but had to post about the good old Palomino!

I haven't moved there yet but I've been contacting local riding groups to find out about horse keeping in the area.
The best one in NM is The Backcountry Horsemen it's a national association and they have quite a few chapters in NM and seem like friendly lot and can fill you in on local places to trail ride and the nuances of horse keeping in the NM area. |

Speaking of horses...what are the most horse friendly areas of NM. I would like to look at buying horse property, as my wife...not me , has 3 horses...at least 3 acres, preferably near mountains with trees etc, yet still close enough (within a 45 minute commute)to decent jobs. I am an industrial maintenance mechanic, so any type of production industry would be great....i.e. newspaper (I currently work for one here in So Cal), bottling plants, refineries, etc.Prefer colder winters over hot humid summers, so I was thinking along the lines of northern NM. My housing budget will be 250K or less...am I dreaming? I am not one of those rich Kaleeforkneeahns. I will still have to work for a living. I have also been looking a lot at the Bitterroot Valley area of MT, but NM seems pretty nice too. Just keeping my options opened. Thanks. |
