Are people well off in Vegas? I guess it depends on who you talk to. Like most cities there are always the haves and have nots. Some people in the Vegas metro have been affected by the economy/unemployment and some havent been. I have several friends in specialty fields (medical and legal) who have done well during the past few years. I also have friends in the real estate, banking and mortgage business that aren't doing so great. However, there are plenty of wealthy neighborhoods as Summerlin, Spanish Trails, Lake Las Vegas, Anthem etc still around. The economic indicators are improving, Las Vegas is just a bit behind the rest of the country. But, it will catch up.

The economic indicators are not improving. The debt and deficits are growing FAR faster than any nominal GDP growth, which is just inflated through stimuli, quantitative easing (i.e. money printing, etc.). We need 150,000 jobs/month just to maintain the UE rate and we are nowhere near that when you take out the Government jobs which are a drag on the Economy.

The Healthcare bill has not even taken effect yet; its effects will be disastrous. The vast majority of Obama's tax hikes have yet to take place.

Speaking of which. The OBESITY rates are out now for this year. And every year, higher record highs.

I don't think there is a city where "everyone" is well off... I mean there are areas of Vegas with "well off people" but I wouldnt say the whole city is, especially the older parts.

Some people are well off, others are not. Las Vegas is a typical place, full of the haves and have nots. Considering how dang crowded our locals places are on weekends, seems like a lot of folks are doing well..but not necessarily are they "well off"

You can usually tell by homes they live in, as you can in any other town-village-city in the country.

We got people here making multi-million dollar salaries and people who scrape by on $10,000 a year..or are on welfare.

I personally believe, now this is my opinion only, that Las Vegas is a tough place to live if you don't make a good salary and have some sort of discretionary income left over weekly/monthly.

There's just so much to enjoy both on the Strip and off here in Las Vegas, that is unique to our city. To not be able to enjoy or experience it whatsoever, drains you after time. Unless you don't want to, that's the exception.

And there ARE folks who move here and never visit a restuarant, never go to a casino, never go to events and they are happy with that. It's all up to the individual.

Am I the only one interpreting "well off" differently? I hope this guy isn't secretly laughing at each and every post here, as he meant something different, of a far more critical nature.

Just to be safe, I'm not "well off" and I've met too many "well off" people here
who are making far less than $20k a year and "well off" people who are making over 100K a year.

Now we'll see, if I was the one who responded correctly.

Since I work remotely, my girlfriend and I are planning to move from Michigan to Nevada soon. We are looking into Henderson and Boulder City.

For those of you all familiar with these areas, are the gang problems in either of those areas? Or is it just in the city? I've liked both areas every time I've visited, but those videos looked pretty bad.....
