Hi, I'm very curious if or where Vegas residents have their professional sports loyalties? I know there are no pro teams in Nevada, so who do you guys cheer for? Whose games do you get on TV?

I would imagine the "home team" would either be Arizona teams or Los Angeles teams.

Las Vegas loyalty to sports teams is determined by where residents originated from. Davie quoted a figure that 3 out of 4 Las Vegans are transplants. So, for 75% of Las Vegas, loyalty to teams is quite spread out over the country.

I read a listing somewhere of which sports bars are hangouts for fans of any given NFL team. Each team's fans have a bar somewhere in the valley where they all hang out during the game. I also saw a bar, can't remember where, maybe on Decatur or Rainbow, that had Chicago team decorations outside.

Yes, a very transient area; people constantly moving in and out of Vegas (not as much now with the economy). Been here 25 years and I still follow the teams where I'm from. Go Steelers, Penguins, Pirates , Pitt Panthers, etc.

Go EERS!!!! Beat Hellouta Pitt!

Naturally I'm a die hard WVU fan, but I agree on the Pirates and the Steelers. Being from about 100 miles south of Pittsburgh, and not having pro teams there either, most of us were at least Pirate fans.

The link to sports bars in Las Vegas is nice to have, but I'm not sure it's complete. All the Big Dog corporation owned bars are Green Bay and Univ. of Wisconsin bars because the now deceased founder, Tom Wiesner, played for both. I wonder if other bars are owned by former (or present) players.

I find I'm always loyal to the team I dropped a dime on at the Hilton sports book!

I'm a die hard hockey fan - Buffalo Sabres to be exact, could care less about the Bills, but it's always fun to visit a dedicated bar of your hometown team. Mine serve our hometown beer of choice too, Labatt Blue, as well as some hometown food Makes me really, really happy whenever I get a bit homesick.
