Sounds like you made a wise decision. I should be able to point you in the right direction for all those outdoorsey things you mentioned but unfortunately I can't do them anymore so I won't be able to go with you. You are coming to the right place for it though. FYI, if those things are the most important consideration, you'd do even better to go to Reno, Albuquerque, or Salt Lake City; not that I'm trying to get rid of you.

If jobs are the issue then Reno or Las Vegas is your best bet. This is not a very outdoors oriented town like Reno and Albuq. but many people like me have always enjoyed the proximity to so many things to do here. It does take a little driving sometimes, but in the west that's no big deal. BTW: The lady who cuts my hair is from your neck of the woods and she and her husband both have motorcycles. They do some really nice rides. Usually they trailer to the area they want to ride in, like the Durango to Silverton, CO, highway, etc. You'll want to check out the mtn. bike shop out at Blue Diamond. That's where all the local mtn. bikers hang out and there are some great rides around that area that they'll be glad to point you towards.

Allow yourself about six weeks to find jobs, then if you don't get one pretty quick you won't be disappointed. Usually the logistics of you getting your bearings, you finding them, them making up their minds, them getting back to you, you getting work cards, etc., etc., etc. takes a while. You might luck into one right away though.

Thanks for the info. Your friends are from my neck of the woods as in where, Albany or where were going to stay? Im sorry to hear you can't do the outdoor tivities anymore, did you get hurt? The 6 weeks thing is right about what I thought, im sure she will have a job quicker than I so it will be cool to get my resume out to a ton of places and then enjoy myself for a but, if it doesn't work, we will drive out to L.A and stay with a friend for 2 weeks and shoot back east, no biggie. I am confident we willl land good jobs but Im not expecting anything either, so if I nail anything it will be a pleasant supprise. We got the hotel for 1 month but if we need to we could afford another month if it is swayed towards go. Were young, we have no kids, a reasonable ammount of money, and were ambitious, this is the time to explore and try things cause if she popps out a kid were F'd. Thanks again, and your all very kind. I hope to keep in touch for when I move. --Bill

You are very lucky you didn't get busted. People don't know that it is a fairly serious offense here. I've seen where people have gone to jail for that. The reason is if you are caught in a casino, the casino could get into license trouble. Gotta be 21 to buy cigarettes too. The age of consent for sex, however, is 16, and you can die for your country at 17. Go figure.
