Had my last interview in september. Told me yesterday to just hold on and I will know very soon. Does anyone know anything about what's going on with the "public space positions"? (Casino porter). The stress is unreal. Thanx.

My interview was also on September and just got an offer yesterday.
So hang in there. I know the level of stress you are in right now.
Good luck!

Congrats to all that got in. I have my on-boarding business on Tuesday. I got an email saying there's an orientation on Wednesday morning, but that was followed up by another email saying to disregard the previous email, and to wait for a new date and time for orientation. Did anyone else get that?

Your First Day – Instructions and Request for RSVP
Dear jose,

Getting closer to opening now. We’re very excited. We hope you’ve had a chance to celebrate your new career. And we expect that now you have a thousand questions.
*
What will the future be like for you? What role will you play in
The Cosmopolitan’s new and different culture? What steps will you take to become an official CoStar?
*
We wrote this email to address some of those questions. And to cover basic issues like where to park and what to wear on your first day. Because it’s not meant to be nerve-wracking. You’re not meant to be apprehensive. We want you here, energized and excited. And ready to learn.
*
Your first days here will be all about that. Learning. Getting acclimated with our culture. The stuff you’ve seen on our website, our print and TV ads—those represent the surface of what we’re about. Now, you’ll see it from the inside.
*
You’ll come to understand what
The Cosmopolitan community means to you. Meet the first of your fellow CoStars. And you’ll see why you were so carefully selected to join our team. Because this is a place where you belong. This is a role you were meant to play.
*
Here’s how you’ll get started:
*
To RSVP for your start date of 11/10/10 please log into the “My Account” page on our website.
*
Day One

#1: Unemployment in Las Vegas is 15%. Closer to 25% if you count people that don't claim unemployment benefits or are working part time.

#2: Most casinos aren't hiring for most positions.

#3: The Cosmopolitan is hiring 5000 people. Who else in the country is hiring that many people at once? It's an incredible opportunity to get a job when there aren't any.

#4: Casinos offer employees health and life insurance, free food, free uniforms, vacation, better pay for entry level positions than most of the country etc....

That's the big deal to me

Yes, the EDR (employee dining room) is like a buffet you can eat at while on duty. Most casinos also offer employee discounts at stores, shows etc... some casinos have deals with other companies so you can get discounts for car rentals, hotel rooms, Sears, Target, etc...
