OK we are going to do the real thing. As mentioned above we are hitting the Mexican for Mexican Restaurant. A week from Thursday (Sept 2) at 6 PM. Vicinity of Bonanza and Nellis. Anyone else who wants in drop me a DM.

We may publish the name and address depending on how it works out.

Until my innards get settled down from GERD, I'm avoiding spicy foods. But having lived in the two best places for Mexican and New Mexican food in the U.S. ─ Albuquerque/Santa Fe and Laredo ─ I feel qualified to make this list starting with the best, although the top two are a close tie:

(Disclaimer: I haven't tried all the new restaurants on the east side of town since it became predominately Hispanic, but I'd bet this list would change if I did)

1. Frank and Fina's Cocina Mexican Restaurant, Mexican Food, Catering - Las Vegas, Nevada. - Home
2. Lindo Michoacan "The Best Mexican Restaurant" in Las Vegas! Welcome to Lindo Michoacan gourmet Mexican cuisine.
3. Bonito Michoacan Bonito Michoacan Mexican - Google Maps
4. Casa Don Juan Location
5. El Burrito El Burrito Mexican Restaurant Las Vegas, NV, 89134 - YELLOWPAGES.COM
6. Doña Maria Delicious Mexican Food Las Vegas -*|* Doña Maria Tamales Restaurants

Honorable Mention: El Sombrero El Sombrero Cafe Las Vegas, NV, 89101 - YELLOWPAGES.COM, and it hurts me to say this but we broke down and gave RICARDO'S another try and were really pleased; also Border Grill isn't bad if you're looking for Mexican comfort food that isn't very spicy.

There is only one NEW Mexican restaurant, but it has three locations. That's Garduño's in the two Fiestas and the Palms. New Mexican food is a combination of Spanish, Anglo, Indian, and Mexican., but not necessarily in that order. It is usually better than Mexican food; sometimes way better. Garduño's is from Albuquerque, brought here by George Maloof when he built the Fiesta on Rancho. The Maloofs are from Albuquerque.

I lived in Albuquerque for years and love New Mexican food. There are no lemons or limes in New Mexican Food and rarely tomatillos. They also use Hot Anaheim chiles. Yumm. New Mexico also has a state question. It is Red or Green? meaning what kind of chile do you want.

I have GERD too and I'm only 26. I understand completely and I too love mexican food.
