. . . and here's an interesting quote from the article directed by the first link:

"Analysts say Las Vegas could end up topping Orlando in job growth, because it's uniquely insulated from downturns in ways that most major cities would envy."

So, it might end up as number one, ahead of Orlando. Interesting . . .

Not that I'm in love with Las Vegas, but I don't understand how Orlando could end up at the top of any list. I just spent some time down there around the months surrounding Christmas and lived through 4 tornados in a couple weeks, muggy weather at other times, questionable community members I would not want to reside near, sirens on the streets at all hours, and hearing complaints from community members about their onerous real estate insurance rates if they could even find a company to insure them. It just didn't sound like a safe, healthy, and inviting environment . . . at least from my few months of limited perspective.

Las Vegas isn't exactly a safe healthy environment either, what with the 24 hour boozing and gambling, the r-rated billboards everywhere, but that doesn't have anything to do with the job market.

People will continue to move where the jobs are, and as long as Las Vegas is hiring, they will come.
