With what they have to deal with on a day-to-day basis, they're all heros in my book.

Put it this way. You only hear about the officer gone bad or a mistake they make that reaches the news. For every one of those instances there are a hundred more positives that don't get any light. With the amount of people migrating in and out daily, I imagine they have a very difficult time effectively policing neighborhoods. Combine that with a generalized mistrust of officers in general in many minority neighborhoods and they are up against a real challenge.

many of them do a good job I believe, and they are likely overworked too (e.g. budget constraints/personnel limits on a backdrop of a large population), there are bad apples of course (like in any barrel)

i hope you pursue your dream and treat the job more than a job

Metro is one of the most professional and respected police departments in the country. Their academy is notoriously difficult as well.

Make sure and visit their recruitment website and read their message forum Protect the City - Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Recruitment Web Site to read the experiences other recruits have had. Good luck.

Metro does do a good job, but like any organization there are a few bad apples.

I have full confidence in both Metro and North Las Vegas police.

Good look in the future.

Thanks you again for reading my post and replying to it, and what you said it's true. Where i am from in the Bronx the NYPD makes the news for every mistake they make . Last year a police officer was in patrol around my neighborhood, around 3:00 am and he saw smoke comming out of the window of a house. The officer jump out of is car wake every one up and save a family of six, because munites later the house burn down. The news never came out on TV or news papers.

Henderson police department is not testing any time soon. I have to go to Las vegas for mandatory seminar in oct for metro and testing in mid dec or early janunary. Thank you again you guys for your reply i don't need to ask how is living in vegas, because i been reading this site for a year now and i think i find very good information about Las vegas.
