I remember when that lady went missing. I thought she could have been a victim of that serial killer they never caught yet. but no, just a victim of too much junk! if her husband lived with her, why didn't he try to find her inside first? Or maybe he is the type that doesn't pay much attention to her life. Obviously.

I'm not sure...but I would imagine the smell of rotting human flesh could be quite insulated under 8-foot mounds of garbage...not to mention masking by other food rotting in the house and possibly feces from humans or animals, which is common to the hoarding disease.

It's OCD at its absolute worst.

My guess would be closed casket...or immediate cremation of remains.

When I was with the Census, one of my fellow enumerators "found" a dead body in the course of her duties. She's a nurse, and recognize the smell of a dead body when she went to the door. If memory serves, the peson was old, and died of natural causes.

I don't understand why something wasn't done to make the house searchable.
