i know there is cox internet for most of las vegas, but the cheapest i could find was 33.00 a month, but including taxes and fees, it will probably be 40.00. Does anyone know if there is an internet service for 20.00 only? it doesnt have to be the fastest for me, but i dont want to pay over 25.00 if i can avoid it.

If you don't care about speed, try NetZero for $5 a month.

I don't think you can get under $30/month from Cox or CenturyLink beyond the promotional period without bundling. Bundling and a 12 month commitment can save you $15/month with CenturyLink, which does get you under $30/month (as low as $15/month for 768k service). I haven't seen my first bill since switching to dry-loop DSL from bundled DSL and phone (phone # was ported to Vonage), but I've been told there are no extra fees or taxes, as those go with the phone service, not the Internet service. Some people do get charged an additional $2/month (for a total of $32/month) with the "Pure" DSL product for outgoing 911 and incoming calls, as the phone line actually does have dial tone, but I've heard that that charge can be removed.

Cox has a starter package for $22.99 per month and that's including the taxes and fees. Capped at 1 mbps but plenty of speed for general surfing. You really have to dig through their website just to find this package.

It looks like it does NOT include all taxes and fees.
You also need to rent a cable modem for an additional monthly fee or else buy your own approved modem.

Getting a free modem out of Cox is easy. They don't make you rent them.

The CSRs probably have a lot of leeway in what they offer to a new customer. I was told in-store that if you order phone service the modem is free, but for an Internet-only customer only the modem was $39. Since people were asking about $20 for a modem on Craigslist, I paid $20 more for the convenience of getting one right then.

In this day and age you need to just go ahead and buy a modem from one place or another. Wherever you go you can just hook it up to the service. It's one of those essentials. Renting it is not really worth it.

I just got Cox premier internet. I got a free modem and 3 months for $19.99. After that it will go to $47 so I will just cancel it and use the Clear internet I already pay for at work.

I have the starter package and my monthly bill is only $22.99 including taxes and fees. Got a free modem when I signed up. Actually the modem cost was .01. Signed up through their website.
