Has anyone heard any information on the sports book at the Casino? The staff keeps saying there will be a sports book in the Palio sports bar by September 1st. One employee said they were putting it in the wall at the top of the steps....

Well, football season is less than 3 weeks away and I'm getting concerned.I dread the thought of driving to the Strip or over to that fleabag Fiesta for my sporting entertainment.

@ Buckeye, I was told it was opening on 9/1. I don't think there is much construction to do. It will be in former sports bar on the upper level.

So, I was poking around on the tax assessor website to see if maybe Reflection Bay may have changed hands. What I did find out is that Carmel Land and Cattle, who owns Relfection Bay Golf Course in Lake Las Vegas parcel # 160-15-811-001 only pays annual property taxes of $504.68. Yes, you read that correctly. Five Hundred Four dollars and sixty eight cents. I find this very aggravating and I have already contacted Gerri Schroder at the City of Henderson to find out why?

I'm guessing maybe they converted this to agriculture to avoid taxes, but don't you have to grow crops or have cows grazing to qualify for that? Those taxes should be in the thousands of dollars per year. This is tax revenue that the County/City is not collecting. Just another reason to hate Carmel Land and Cattle. Not only have they ruined Lake Las Vegas, they are also not even paying taxes.

Without the tax expense, they have no incentive to sell. Plus, their lawsuit against the City of Henderson over the water rights is probably costing the city many, many, many thousands of dollars, plus the litigation costs of all of the other defendants involved. I find all of this wasteful and aggravating. I'm thinking about letting the RJ and the LV Sun know and investigate this further.

Both the papers would run with it and publish a story exclaiming what a horrible place LLV is to live and do business in

@ Rebel, you're correct. The media would make LLV worse than Carmel.

Default Rb

I first visited LLV in 2005/6ish. Last week I returned for the first time since 2006. I still love LLV. I was disappointed the RB golf course is closed. Reading the blog it appears that possibly a new buyer will close on it soon. Any updates?

Lovin'LLV. I'm hearing mixed things about Reflection Bay. The course looks amazing right now. Which makes me think something is happening. I bet by the end of the month we'll hear something.

LLV is coming back.. slowly but surely.

Ever thought about contacting George Knapp @ gknapp@8newsnow.com ? Not sure if he would be interested enough to investigate or not. Just a thought.

Mantova, I think we just sit tight on anything further. LLV is finally getting positive media attention. I'd hate to have this turn on LLV, when there is likely nothing that can be done. I have a call into Gerri Schroeder. Let me see what she has to say about it. I do know the city has been waiving things with Carmel in an effort to get things resolved. Hopefully, if rumors are correct, the golf course will change hand by the end of August.

LLVResident,

I think working behind the scenes to get the tax situation for RB/The Falls rectified is a great idea.

I am currently considering buying a unit at Mantova or V. Even the smallest units pay more taxes than the golf courses. The word OBSCENE comes to mind.

Mantova Guy,

How is the sound control at Mantova btw floors and walls?
Do you know if there are any plans to build another building?
What are the plans for along the lake, infront of building 30 (now a parking lot and gravel)?
Do the tennis courts belong to Mantova or The Lake Club?
What is going to happen east of the Mantova complex eventually??

Whomever,

Also any thoughts or opinions on V would be appreciated...
