Default MGM HR Policies - one job application at a time

Anyone here work at HR in MGM Resorts or can explain why MGM's site specifically limit applications to one at a time?

I have applied on September 07, 2010 for a part time position at Mirage. I have yet to be invited to an interview. I have not received a "dear john" letter either.

A new opening in another MGM property has opened (same position).
I would like to apply for it - if I am not being considered for the Mirage position. And I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by withdrawing my app for Mirage, only to actually be considered. But if they are not considering me, then for god's sake, let me know so I can move on.
The position at the Mirage is no longer shown on a search of open jobs.
My app shows "active".

There are HR offices at each of the MGM properties.

Is it a bad idea to apply directly to the HR center of the property hiring? The only place I have seen the "one-at-a-time" rule is on the MGM resorts HR page. It is shown to you at the end of the application process.

Thanks for reading. Your insight is greatly appreciated.

PS. btw, if you are on a Mac, Wynn/Encore will not recognize Safari, or Firefox to complete an application. There only suggestion is to go to a library to apply as they have no HR office.

Apply for the position and note on your application that you have also applied at Mirage, they will appreciate the candor.

I know someone who retired from HR for MGM - She said if nothing has come of your application after 2 weeks, to move it. I'd say call the employment center and ask, and if they don't give you a justifiable answer, move it.

Since when does a major company hiring a couple of thousand people have to JUSTIFY anything to someone that hasnt even be hired?

It was in the context of a "good enough" answer to subdue any concerns...

Seems like someone has an attitude problem...

It's a system limitation that only allows one application at a time. We're working on getting a new system.

Thanks for explaining, as this may help future posters. This thread is from 2010.

If you work at MGM in the HR dept, perhaps you could suggest to a supervisor that it would be wise for MGM to maintain a presence here on City Data.

Someone asks "how to get a job with MGM Resorts" every week. And while I work for an MGM casino, I'm not in HR and don't feel comfortable answering HR questions.
