I wanted to open an account in Las Vegas but wanted more of a mom and pop bank, not something like BOA. After 3 weeks we closed our Bank of Nevada account because of one of their ridiculous policies. Are there any suggestions for something like this in Summerlin? What is the opinion on Nevada Federal CU?

There are two banks you'll find locally I can recommend, albeit on limited experience.

First is Nevada Federal Credit Union https://www.nevadafederal.org/index.aspx . While I'm not a customer, my girlfriend is & she seems quite happy with them. They're pretty boring & no frills, but seem to do everything she wants. Definitely not the corporate curmudgeon that is BofA.

Second is Bank of the West https://www.bankofthewest.com/ . Although I already had an account with Chase, I wanted a second account with some local presence to give me options. In all honesty, the reason I chose BotW was for their free iPod Touch promotion (no longer available). In the few months since I've opened the account, service seems personal & attentive. It doesn't hurt to have an iPod Touch on the way as well.

Hope this helps a bit ...
