Default Living on North Strip vs. South Strip

I'm a 25 year old male that is relocating to Las Vegas. I will be working mid-strip, and would like to be close to bus lines and shopping, as I won't have a car right away, or maybe at all (might sell it).

I was wondering what the pros and cons are of living on the North and South ends of the strip. I've been looking at Park Ave/Manhattan/Boca (South), and Streamline and a couple of others in the North. A gym with free weights would be a bonus since I enjoy working out.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Also, budget is around 1000/mo. (I forgot to mention that I'd be leasing).

South Strip is nicer, newer, and safer.

You'll need 2 buses to get to the Strip from the S end, just one from the north-big difference. Check out The Meridian-it's in your price range & very close to the Strip. Sky would be a little high for you but otherwise it would be perfect. You could live without a car at N end or Meridian but S end would be tough.

Also bus service on the south end runs only every 30 minutes or something, just one line which takes you to the transfer station then you find the bus that gets you to the strip. The Meridian, trust me.

^True about the bus service. But I have a feeling that the OP will probably choose to keep the car. Vegas is not a great place to be without one.

The north end of the strip is dangerous.

Look into Meridian. It is only one block off mid-strip on Flamingo. Rents run in your price range.
Has many amenities - gated, 24 hr guard, pools, gym, racketball courts, parking, and location.
