That is the most positive news story I've ever heard anyone do on Las Vegas or anywhere, but especially on Las Vegas, and I was in the business for 32 years. That woman must be fired immediately. She doesn't understand that they sent her here to get the "dirt" on Las Vegas, not sing it's praises. I thought I could hear disappointment in the Anchor's voice.

Thanks, macgeek. I came away from that with a smile on my face and pride in my heart. Oh, that's heartburn. Well, anyway, I really enjoyed that piece.

pure trash piece. Why in hell would they send a reporter that's never been to LV before...of course, The Strip is going to dazzle her...if it didn't...she's dead! If she's never been there, how can she compare it to any other time...boom or bust??? She needs to get out of the casino...and into the suburbs to get the real stories.

Bitter, party of one...mind if I join you? Many people tend to romanticize a town on their first few visits. That's normal if you aren't as jaded as you or I, JFK.

A lot of people really like coming here and their first experience (or several experiences) are often very, very fun. It's good to be reminded of that from time to time.

Great story!

Exactly what you DIDN'T want to hear jfk...

And what do you think (or want to believe), that areas outside the Strip are dead and have no people living there and enjoying their lives?

They go to work, go out to eat, go to the movies, enjoy the tourist areas, go shopping...

But then again, you don't live here in the "suburbs".... or Las Vegas for that matter, so I guess you just don't know

My point being that if one wants an true impartial journalism on how the economy is affecting Florida...you don't send a reporter to Disney World for the first time in their lives...of course that reporter is going to be wowed and cannot compare the crowds at Disney to any other point in their life...because they have never been there.

Similarly to Las Vegas...if one wants impartial journalism on how the economy is affecting Las Vegas...don't send a reporter the The Strip for the first time in her life.

Both tourist places will always be jammed with people...97% who don't live in their respective areas.

If LV does decide to shut down...you can bet that the casinos will be the last ones to shut off the neon lights. Even if LV ever became a ghost town (which I doubt)...you can bet that some small casinos would still operate to handle visitors that came to see what the city once was.

I might be wrong....but do you want to hear what this reporter reports as she trys to convey that Las Vegas is back on? Do you want the tide to reverse and Las Vegas to boom again further? More people moving in than out? Surburban growth out of control? I know that Oscar Be Good would love that. But then again, he must look down at it all, from his "thrown" and his mansion...thinking he's the master and the God of Creation of it all.

I thought you would love LV to return the point of when you first moved there? I'm obviously wrong about that...but I thought you (and maybe even Buzz) would embrace the population decline and a reduction of the city, back to the days of yore. It'll accompany lots of pain and suffering to get it back there...but wouldn't it be worth it, in your opinion?

Suburbs look great from my vantage point! Personally I like the non tourist Las Vegas experience even more. BTW, I'm not dead!

I've been to Vegas nine times in the last year. I've only went to the Strip once and only then to take my kids to Circus Circus. If I want to gamble I go to casinos off the strip. I love it off the strip. Last month we hiked in Red Rock and next month we plan to do Valley of Fire.

I will go to the Strip next month to see the Cosmo and maybe to City Center as we haven't been yet.

Yes, old timers LOVE the way Las Vegas used to be, and I took it that the reporter was on the Strip reporting about the hustle and bustle down there, dispelling the "rumors" that Las Vegas is "dead".

Probably because she saw firsthad the huge of amount of tourists still, even in this economy.

YOU are the one who was trying to portray that our "suburbs" tell a different story, when in fact, they do not!

YOU are the one who is trying to portray that Las Vegas is "dead" when in fact, it is not!

In my opinion, I personally don't care if more people leave the valley, it's way too overcrowded as it is. And quite honestly, people WILL ALWAYS BE MOVING TO LAS VEGAS. They come to visit, they like, they want to stay. It's always been that way so it's just something you have to accept when living in such a fantastic place!

In my personal circumstances and in my own opinion, if we stay (population) just as we are, that would be fine, even better would be just before the boom years! But alas, it will never be, lol..
