Public pools in Vegas
Just was wanting some recommendations on public pools in Vegas or hotels that allow locals to pay a fee for access. I will be moving there in August and would like some place to cool off that doesn't involve renting a $200 a night room.

Is there any of the large hotel pools like such Mandalay Bay or Tropicana that allow locals in for a small fee instead of renting a room?

Well there is some hope but check the listed stuff out with the hotels. The pool party has become a bigger deal over the last year so you may find it not the way protrayed.

Note by the way that getting into Rehab at the Hard Rock now takes pull...like one of the fancy night clubs.

well, we've been pool hopping the strip for years, the Sahara, Riviera, and the Flamingo don't make you show a room key and just to be safe don't ask for towels because they might make you show a key...sometimes, the Tropicana doesn't ask for a key, The Stratosphere used to not ask for one, but I'm not sure anymore...
As long as you have a key, these places don't swipe them to make sure you're a guest: Caesars, Monte Carlo, and the Tropicana
I know the Monte Carlo sometimes charges 20 dollars for locals to use their pool...
Hooters lets anyone use their pool, but on the weekends they're a little more restrictive, but if you're over 21 on the weekends, you're fine
Also, the Silverton doesn't ask for keys
I guess you didn't know that you could get into a pool for free, lol...

Are there bars at any of the pools. Maybe at the Cabannas?

Your kidding...the bar goes in before they fill the pool.
