This is a tad off topic, but I notice here your circuit breaker box is outside where anyone can get to it. And most that I have seen don't have a lock on them. In the midwest (at least) all homes have their boxes inside the house. Is this not a concern for people out here?

Do any of you lock your box?

I do, with a cylindrical lock. Look at it this way, the easier your neighbors houses are to rob, the easier it is to make your house an unattractive target

You should never lock your breaker box. We had an electric space heater short out many years ago and the breaker didnt trip, I cant imagine how bad it would have been if I was running around in the midst of chaos trying to find a key to unlock the breaker box.

Not an issue for me. All bedrooms, living room and family room are in a secondary interior box. Also my key is on a direct path out of my house to the exterior box. I'm keeping mine locked.

What about the privacy concerns? Since I live in an apartment, the radiation is not a concern, but the privacy still is.

I'm interested to see what rules the PUC makes NV Energy follow concerning customers' information, but I think there is zero chance of a Smart Meter ban.

Yea, Its strange how ANYONE, can walk up to a breaker box and shut off ALL your power, hell, It would have made more sense just to put it on the OTHER SIDE of your GATE

My electrician said you can lock it..

Yeah I agree, even inside the gate would be a little better! But just out there, it's just hard for me to get my head around this one.
