You can't stop a determined criminal but a gate might slow some of the less determined ones down. When we TV weenies first moved into the building where Ch 3 is located, the side parking lot was accessable from both Foremaster Lane and Searles St. Low riders in the area were driving through and stealing batteries out of employees' cars every day. When we closed off one end of the lot so that they had only one way in and out it stopped the battery thefts cold. We've had two burgleries in our gated community. We think one was done by people who had done work for one of the victims and knew what they were looking for and when to do the job. The other was by someone, probably a teenager, who jumped over the wall on the back street and went in while the owner was working in front of the house. Both were in broad daylight. Who knows whether the gate has made it more difficult for burglers. But it does hold down traffic, and makes for a nice quiet community. It helps keep property values stable, and makes it easier for the HOA to keep things looking nice all the time.

You guys are getting way too hung up on where it's safe to go in Las Vegas. You're not entering Watts on foot at night; or Harlem at anytime of day. People don't think twice about walking around Washington, DC, or the other most dangerous city in America, Detroit; and more people get shot there than in Baghdad. This is a nice city. Granted we have areas where there is more crime than others, but my little old home town of 14,000 people back east has that too; just like every town in the world has.

Bottom line is, don't worry about it. There is no place in Las Vegas that wouldn't walk in the daytime, or drive at night. There are about six places where I wouldn't feel comfortable walking at night, but I have. And I've lived in or near most of them.

If you can get shot in an exclusive hotel like New York New York, you can get shot in the Morman Tabernacle in SLC while singing hymns. People alla da timea tella me don'ta go ta Italy, dey pick a you pocket. Yet I know tons of people who went there and didn't get robbed, and they loved it there.

When we talk about good or bad areas, I for one am mostly talking about where it would be a bad investment to buy a house because the neighborhoods are on a decline. A few are not safe because of gangs, but very few.

I wish everyone who is moving here would stop obsessing about where it is safe to go. Go wherever you want. The odds of being a crime victim are so slim it's not worth spending anytime worrying about it; especially since Slim's out of town. (Now watch me get robbed for saying that )

Yes I did see your link. They look very nice. $200 deposit though, not that I'm complaining but that seems low.

It might be because they are in the dreaded North Las Vegas. They look very nice from the outside and like Pink said they are bran new. It could just be an incentive to get them full. Also, some might think they are to far from the strip and the action. We also live close to them and I love being out here.

Actually they are not in NLV. That is just the new building comeon...Like first month free. kThey know that cash is king...and lack thereif is standard for newcomers to Las Vegas.

I would expect a relatively tight credit/rental check.

People fear what they do not understand, and the only understanding that most of us have is someone saying stuff like "stay out of the bad parts", which to them may have a different meaning; like yours, is that they wouldn't move or buy a home there. Most of us do not understand that. Thank you for clearing things up a little for us though. I have been in Harlem many times and yes there are bad parts, there are also good parts like near Manhattan. I think it is normal for people to have concerns about visitiing or moving anywhere in the the country, and you are going to get some whiners like me here and there, but thats what this website is for no?

They are brand new. And still building. It's like a new home community where you get free upgrades, etc. The apts are new, so they give you a good move in deal. Once all units are occupied and day to day living goes on, the prices will increase.
Also, if you don't know alot about Nevada in general, most places do not charge you first, last, deposit on moving in. You just pay your deposit and rent. Alot of places will have you pay a cleaning fee that is refundable when you move out, depending on the shape of the apt.
Check out the pictures for the apts. They have better kitchens than my place! I'm so jealous.

If they aren't in NLV, then why are they within Aliante's boundaries?

You are correct Pinkstring they are both in Aliante and NLV. The map however on the Presidio site is wrong. Shows them just west of Decatur on Rome when they are in fact well east of Decatur on Rome.

I dropped them an email pointing out that they are lost.
