I found this info VERY useful in tracking crime around my new neighborhood. Anyone else ever use it?

That is a regurgitation of the Metro Crime View...

CrimeView Community Incident Map : Las Vegas Metro Police Department

Just plug in the address or zip code.

It is actually exactly the same map. You just need to figure out how to set the thing up. The RJ does a similar thing in View. They are simply grabbing one particular map from the Metro site and prettying it up.

Note that the Metro site is live and updates daily...so you can see what is happening now rather than the date of publicaton of the newspaper.

The Sun link seems pretty up to date. It shows a robbery that happened in my neighborhood last night at 6pm

Hey I blew that one. I did not realize it was live. I had it cut off in my window at just the picture. So it is basically the Metro data base through a different front end. So it should show the same stuff.

The View neighborhood newspaper also shows crime incidence in the area. I get the South Summerlin edition which has information not only on South Summerlin but the Spring Valley area. My sister receives the Spring Valley edition, it is a nice free publication with information about things going on in the community.

Another place to check is spotcrime.com.
Just input where you live and they can email you once a week for any crime happening in your area or 2 miles around your area. Comes with complete descriptions, and shows the vicinity of where it happened. They use the same maps as the street view one's the maps use.
