Sunrise Manor area
Could anyone offer some information about the Sunrise Manor district of the city? I just got hired as a CCSD teacher, and will be living in zip code 89156. What is traffic like? What's the crime prevalence?
thanks friends!

Eastern part of 89156 is reasonalby nice. Has some of the best views in Las Vegas. Western part gets increasingly tough as you go west...real tough. to the north and south of the western portion it gets worse.
So you try to live and stay as far east as practical and transit the intervening zone to the freeways quickly.
This is one of the areas where I recommend local knowledge before you move there. There is no simple algorithm to separate the bad from the good...other than it gets better to the east.

RedWingFan probably gave you a huge biased opinion of the area that has actually changed a little as well...the area doesn't have a lot of traffic, at least in my opinion, there's plenty of conveniences on Nellis, such as department stores, restaurants, chain stores, supermarkets, and there's a supermarket or 2 on Hollywood, and 2 rec centers on Hollywood...The closest you are to Hollywood, preferably east of it, the better off you are...if you have any extra questions, you can PM me, I've spent some time in that area...But, however, I do agree with Olecapt about needing local knowledge in that area, most of the people that I know that live in that area has lived in Vegas for at least 7 years, and moved from other areas...I know some that like it better there than Silverado Ranch...but it depends on which neighborhood and off of which corner you live off of...

I have a friend in Sunrise Manor. She is a Las Vegas lifelong resident. She much prefers it there than anywhere else in the valley. She also says you get more for your money on homes. Especially yard space.
She lives in the area around Lamb/Sahara.
