10-30 days of thunderstorms a year in Las Vegas?

Does this map sound right?

I'd say less than 10. We might be lucky to see 3-4 a year.

I doubt that any one neighborhood gets to ten. But I suspect the Vegas Valley easily gets to close to thirty. They tend to be local.

Doesn't matter, except to Herman, who climbs on top of my head and shakes like a leaf until I give him a Benadryl, and put peppermint oil on his little feets. The average yearly rainfall is still gonna be about 4 inches, and I think we've been way below that in recent years.

That map is a bit specific - only thunderstorms, not rain. For example the Seattle area is also listed as 10-30 (same as Las Vegas), yet you only see the sun about 40 days a year in that city.
I have seen the occasional T storm off in the distance while there was no rain at all in Las Vegas itself.

The map also covers very vast areas, so there could be a thunderstorm 100 miles away and we wouldn't know about it.

Weather people here use the word "virga" probably a lot more than in most areas of the country. For those not familiar with the word, it is rain that you can see falling from a cloud, but it never reaches the ground.

I'd say in one particular local, say, one house, (we'll use my own house for this example), you will see about 5 thunderstorms in a year.
