Hmm... Maybe you could put a catch-can in the vac line such that leaves will get pulled into the waste area, but anything heavier (ie, gravel) will travel into the can.

We're talking about a little grass coming through the gravel. If you've ever used one of these (I have many times) you wouldn't be concerned.
Besides, I was just offering a less expensive option to what you posted. Does the more expensive version pose less environmental and fire concerns.
