Put Vegas on the map? Really? Vegas is the number 1 travel destination in the country.

We have 13 million unemployed, but not one cell phone is manufactured in this country. Even at 50 cents an hour, wouldn't it be more productive to put that labor resource to work rather than have 'em twiddle their thumbs?
Nobody will work for that wage that's the main reason stuff is made in china.It's just a form of free market global capitalism.

We see people in Wisc. protesting the busting of their rights, why don't we see people protesting imports? What does made in America mean anymore?

I just looked at my stapler= Made In China.
Staples= Made In China
Computer=Gateway (Too lazy to look)

Look around you. How many everyday products and or services do we use that are made outside of the U.S.? Put people to work and when the job stresses them out they can yell,,""VEGAS BABY""

There has to be real a buy American movement. To spend money people have to work and have some sense of security that if set back they can bounce back. Maybe someone will start a "Buy American" face book campaign. I'm in.. Hey what have we got to lose.

Are Converse All-Stars American made?

I bought my last car American, haha, but to be fair it was only because for the price, the Chevy Camaro 2010 was the best car on the market. Where else can you get 400+ horsepower and a kick-butt look for under $40,000?

So I support your Buy American movement!

Well, people are not going to buy American in large volume unless it makes sense financially. We need to accept the reality that the low-end of the labor pool is in a very competitive global market, and Americans generally cannot compete due to the wages we're used to. That means that real wages/avg-standard-of-living in the US is going to fall while wages in developing countries rise. This is going to continue for decades. The US as a whole will remain successful since enough of our economy will be on the higher-tech or services side of this, and will employ those in foreign countries working very cheaply. This will further increase the wealth disparity within the US, but our GDP per capita as a whole will remain one of the highest in the world.

"made in America" movements and the like amount to minuscule efforts that overlook the unstoppable tidal wave of the global economy. You can go protectionist to support domestic manufacturing, but that's just going to tank GDP and bust the whole economy even worse. Middle class and poor standards of living here would fall even faster.

There's really no solution but to re-tool and try and get a higher end job if you're an industrial worker making a product that competes globally. Obviously a lot of people can't do that, and there's going to be a lot of pain.

as a licensed auto dealer for the last 18yrs.. i can tell you this.. you bought one of the few "good" american cars out there....your only issue is resale.. currently the 2010 is still "hot".. the 1ss is still selling at the auctions for about 20k, the 2ss for around 23k... the depreciation is incredible on an american car...

There is hardly anything made in the good ol USA anymore...Budweiser is a German company now; Hershey is also gone overseas...Winchester knives/guns are not made here and buck knives are made with chinese steel. When I used to work for a Honda plant in Ohio, if we were out of anthing; nuts-bolts-screws-anything we would wait for it to arrive from Japan instead of going to look here to see if anything matched. The government needs to tax the hell out of stuff being brought here to be sold and tell the companies that there are companies here that will make it for the consumers of the USA to buy. I know this will never happen, so lets continue to shut doors here and ship the work over to the countries that hate the United States.

It's crazy. At least there should be some listing of which companies sent jobs out of the U.S. and then bring back the goods to be sold in the U.S. I wonder if American flags are still made in the U.S. If so I'll bet they are made by inmates..

Protectionism will just tank the US economy even worse. Yes, wages would rise a bit, but the cost of goods would rise much more, and middle class standard of living would rapidly fall as people would not even remotely be able to afford the things to which they've become accustomed.
