Hi everyone,

Just wanted to see if anyone can recommend a good shop to have my work van window's tinted?

I stopped by to see Carl today and he didn't know of anyone. If you had your windows tinted, how much did it cost?

Thanks!

Yeah you have to be careful about that airics..I had mine done in Nevada by them and it looked really good but we had to move back to Ohio for a whle and I got pulled over and ticketed for dark tint. The moron cop followed me for 15 miles then pulled me over, walked up with a book and compared my tint with this book and then gave me a $100 ticket. I tried to explain that I had a Nevada license, but my plates were Ohio..

i have a small wagon, tinted with llumar: 2 front seat windows, 2 back seat windows, the pair of vanity windows at the rear, and the hatch window. $150.

llumar is, imo, the best tint to buy.

(i do not work for llumar, a tint company, or in the automotive industry)

If one has a dark tint (with Nevada plates/license) and drives to another state (like CA), are they going to get a ticket, or does that "immunity" carry?

I always go to Ari at Fantastic Indoor Flea Market, although I'm not sure what the deal is with him now. I think he sold the booth inside to someone else, and kept the sun screen business around back.

I went too dark on my work car (Saturn) too. At night I regret it, especially backing up. I would have preferred the windshield strip to be a little more narrow too.

Do yourself a really big favor and have them install one of these while you're there. These are right up there with digital thermostats on your home A/C. Eclipse Sunshade, Car Sun Shade, Auto Windshield Sun Shades, SolLight Solar Powered Lantern & BPA Free Water Bottle, Retractable Sunshade, Self Storing Car Window Sun Shade. Free Shipping & Low Prices on all Eclipse Car & Auto Window Sun Shades

They're a little expensive but worth it in the long run because you'll get years of use out of it. And if you change cars you can get some extra clips and take it with you. Be careful if you have a tinted strip on the windshield though. I had the top clips glued to mine and they eventually came loose. It lasted a long time though, and I'm sure I can fix it with new clips.

They don't get hot and they remain on the windshield out of your way and they don't block your view. The cardboard and the aluminum foil wrapped screens are worthless. They just get hot and the heat stays in your car. Then there's the problem of what to do with them while driving, and burning your hands when folding them up.

There may be other brands, but this is the one I have. Ari's might sell different brands now too.

I have driven tinted window cars to California frequently and never been pulled over. That said, their laws do state that you can't have the front side glass tinted more than something like 70%, so I guess they could ticket you if they wanted to.
