Any ideas about how fast the rental market moves? Is there any point in starting a search this month if we won't move in until sometime in June?
you can get an idea, but no point being serious... don't rent without seeing the place and making sure its not in foreclosure... even if you spend some time in an extended stay motel. it will be worth it.

Oh right! I completely forgot about the foreclosure issue. Is there a good way to figure this out? Are they listed online so we just need to search the address? What if they aren't in foreclosure YET but are on the way?

13blackcats, I work for an apartment community, and if you were to call more than two months before your move in date, you would get a generic response that means they can give you a range of prices and describe some of the floorplans, but everything could change by your move in date. Most people here look a month in advance. I know when I was leasing in Chicago, people looked two months in advance on average. The rental market is very different here. Some places put a stipulation on certain units and require the leasing agent to move a tenant in within one week, month, etc. They also give out free rent, low security deposits, and other concessions like hot cakes.

You might want to look into my neighborhood. It's not far from Nellis, and we have some huge 4-5 bedroom houses for $150-$180 for sale. It's in 89081, and if you want to private message me, I can give you more details.

Generally 4/5 br and retiring implies older children. That suggest west of Nellis. Consider northern 89084, 89131, 89149, 89143. Less than a half hour to Nellis and suitable schools and housing.
