unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can get for your inconvenience.

it's not fun 'camping' in your own space, but that's how you have to look at it.
it will help by storing water for drinking, filling your sinks and tubs with water,
hitting the Y/gym to shower, and maybe choosing to work remotely from the
library or a wifi hotspot.

we went through this for weeks while plumbing was retrofitted.
what we loved most was when they shut the water off for the day early. so you
think you can get up and have a quick shower at 830a for a 9a shutoff, and at
825 there is no water. lovely. :/

Hi,

thanks for all your replies. Couldn't check this site for a while, sorry.

Well, first I will set up an email for my LL (and his agent), but I am prepared to battle this out with the HOA. I got some good points from all of you, but now I am also aware how difficult this will be.

In addition to 6 weeks with the water restriction, they now also closed the hot tub and the pool. Good timing with the first nice summer week coming up ...

I don't want to discredit the building, because so far I liked it very much, but it is the "Allure". Our LL pays about $500 HOA fees for our condo for such nice amenities like a great pool and gym ... But now, this doesn't feel like "high-rise living" anymore, more like living on a building site ... Yes, or like "camping"

This is not really about saving the money from not having water (like the $10/mo), but I really don't see the point at the moment to pay the HOA 500 USD for such an inconvenience.

Well, soon enough I will find out what the LL (or his agent) thinks about the situation. I am sure I won't be pleased, but that will be the next step ...

Thanks so far,
Michelle

you are not paying the hoa, your landlord is... so don't think you can deduct 500 from your rent..

I am living in a nice high-rise in Vegas (quite happily). Now they are starting to work on their water system and this month they shut off the water MO-FR 8 am - 5 pm for 3 (!!!) weeks in a row. Since I am working from home, this is really a great inconvenience and sometimes when the water should be back in the evening there is only cold water or the water is all brown ...

The water is included in my monthly lease to the homeowner. Can I lower the lease for April now (because I had 3 weeks in March nearly no water?). And what would be a good amount for a 1,5 bedroom condo (1000 sqf)?

Any help is appreciated.

Many thanks,
Michelle
I think the high rise could for a month or two buy you some Arrowhead water.
As far as water being turned off, that is common in buildings where they have mains going off for repair, replacement or maintenance.
Next time rent a house.
