Default Todai restaurant

My wife wants to go to Todai for her birthday. Does anyone have any information on whether or not this restaurant is any good? Thanks.

I ate at one in Orange County, Ca years ago. My parents were big fans. It isn't fancy by any means but it is certainly a good value.

It isn't the first place that pops into my mind for a special occasion like a birthday (all you can eat, fluorescent lighting, etc). But if she does not have fancy tastes and likes seafood buffets (crab legs, sushi rolls), then I guess she would be happy.

Can't recommend it.

The sushi is average, and you have too many people picking at the stuff.

Find an all you can eat off the strip. Can't think of any right now.

But, if you wife has her heart set on it, you don't have a choice!

Todai had without a doubt the worst sushi I've ever eaten in Las Vegas. In fact, it's probably the worst sushi-centric buffet I've ever been to anywhere.

YMMV

I only heard about it because they had one down the street from me where I used to live in L.A.

Honestly.... with all those choices for buffets in Vegas, hwo would want to go here?

If you are an experienced sushi eater, you are going to be very disappointed with the sushi at Todai. The quality is OK, but not great.

Their hot food is also very uneven. Some of the food is well prepared (like the beef shortribs); others is plain terrible (squid).

The desserts are pretty good and varied. The salad station also offers some interesting selections.

What I do like about Todai is that it offers the non-sushi eater the ability to try a number of products without being intimidated by a sushi chef.

Mokino at Decatur and Flamingo may be a better option although my last experience there was not so great.

Been to Todai's in San Jose, Anaheim, Concord, Woodland Hills, Beverly Hills, Fairfax VA. Some are better than others, but we are usually quite pleased. Now, I have no clue about Vegas, but when we saw how the prices are jacked up compared to others around the country, we decided against it. But it does typically have something for everyone. Some have French crepes, one (Beverly Hills) was small and had Korean Bar-B-Que. I would be open to giving it a try.
