Either Goodman is a genious...or a complete fool. Only time will tell on this one. Either way...the people of Las Vegas, whose property taxes might be increased to pay for it...were not asked. It's much more easier to gamble with other's money, I guess.

Some critics have pushed for a public vote on the project, and the Culinary Workers union tried to force one earlier this year with a pair of ballot initiatives. Las Vegas won a court fight to keep the measures off the ballot. The stated reason for not seeking a vote is that it would delay the project, although city leaders have acknowledged that it's a complicated proposal that can be hard to convey to voters.

One other option, should the city find itself unable to pay, is raising property taxes. The city couldn't be forced to do so, but there is room in the city's property tax cap for the City Council to increase that levy.

Slow news day?

That article is 15 months old The building is up and will be occupied next year.

With the Zappos move it is considered one of the best deals ever.

LOL. I guess it takes quite a long time for LV news to reach upstate NY. But then again, when you haven't been to Las Vegas in many years, an article from November 2009 would seem like a breaking news bulletin.

ROFL

Ooooops again. Has it delivered the expected development? Did they have to raise taxes to pay for it?

How much were they paying for "energy"?
From the article:
The new building is also expected to save $500,000 in energy costs each year.

JFK, take a little time to troll the New Yawk Forums (even though you live there, you don't post there) and post about high property taxes. You'll get eaten up alive other there. You live in one of the highest property tax states, my sis on LI is now paying $10,000 a year for a tiny 50 x 100 ft. yard and that's with the senior discount she and my brother in law get.

Any time you talk about property taxes (and what that money pays for) you're going to get arguments and disparagement. Especially in your state!

What other doomsday Las Vegas article are you going to find? Maybe all that horrific weather you're having is taking it's toll, lol.

I would imagine that he doesn't do so because those posters wouldn't be as polite with him as are the posters on this board. The NY posters would most likely suggest that he go do something that would be anatomically impossible.

You mean they wouldn't put up with the nonsense. Soon as they'd see his location, it would be one heck of a bashing field day, lol.
