The state of Nevada is now at 12.5% and Las Vegas is at 12.1%

Down substantially over the last months.

And that puts Las Vegas at roughly the same rate as Los Angeles County and a percentage point or so below Riverside/San Bernadino.

So apparently we are recovering better with our one industry town then they are with their high diversification.

Agree. My niece got a job with Cox through JobConnect just a couple of months ago in collections. Just last week she got notified that her numbers were so good that they promoted her to team leader.

So she goes out and gets a part-time job selling jeans working the schedule she wants to work. This is a single mom of 2 teenagers.

Point is the jobs are out there as they've always been through the rough times but some people rather would go on unemployment.

Well it's only a third higher than the national average so it obviously proves that a singular industry is the way to go.

Oh, wait a second...

Agree. I have plenty of motivated friends who have gotten jobs here in the past few months. Generally, the people who struggle are the people who apply to a grand total of two or three jobs and then give up.

You have to be persistent, people, and have realistic expectations in terms of salary and so on.

I would think Riverside/San Bernadino would welcome it at this point...

Whereas any metro at the nationwide average of 9% would not.
