Again, if you gamble, you will eventually lose all your money, and if you don't gamble, you will be bored out of your mind, cause even the shows get boring. You can only see so many concerts and magic shows. Other than that, there are just miles and miles of desert. And I think the tallest tree on the top of Mt. Charleston is about six feet tall, so, in other words, it's not a real mountain, just a big bare rock that get's snowed on. I would say, you better have some hobbies other than gambling. I've known people who have lost all their savings, plus they had to sell their house to a friend and are now renting from him. My advice is make sure you have a secure job before you move here, and otherwise, don't come here.
Can't that said for living anywhere?
I live in an area very close to Philly -- and I grew up in Philly.
Eventually, the historical sites, the cheese steaks, south street, and other 'Philly things' get boring with time. You also need to have some extra money to enjoy said things.

I think it's important to rely on yourself and your hobbies rather than depend on what the city or town can offer. =)

That is absolutely true. We only have one or two small areas that are really unsafe. Even so, I have friends from, or still living in, those areas, that are fantastically nice people. Most of what we consider "bad" is just old, and cheap enough for the economically challenged to move in and take over. Many old timers in Las Vegas just had their neighborhood get old on them. My problem is, having come from an economically challenged background, and having a mom who thought the floors should be clean enough to eat off of, and that we kids should know how to behave, and keep our elbows off the table, etc., I don't see why "poor" has anything to do with living like trash, and/or preying on other people.

just returned from vegas , all im gonna say is , its definately a change of climate, i cant hack the heat and no ocean, it would take some getting use to, no doubt. i mean really crushed stone for a front lawn, no way no how. other than that, everything else was what was expected, nice areas, nice apartments, nice people (no where near the strip), easy navigation, a little cheaper, but i think, and this is my opinion the cons outweigh the pros. i will be back again in the fall.

Well, the desert Southwest geography of the United States is definately not for you, so, you'll find you will be much happier staying where you are and come to Las Vegas only to visit. You don't have to live here, your decision would have been strictly by choice, so you won't have to put up with anything you don't like!

Only by visiting would you have known it's NOT for you. That's what us locals always advise folks to do who have never seen or been in, a desert..to come and visit, see the neighborhoods, talk to locals, experience the desert heat, see our shopping areas, our streets, our mountains, how the valley is laid out....

Lots of people love the dry heat, endless sunshine and could care less about NO OCEAN, and some make their pilgrimages to the So.California ocean coast to experience it when they need or want to.

Much good luck on your search for the best place for you to relocate to jimbo! Thanks for coming back and letting us know of your decision

I have yet seen the great attraction to the beaches along New England the water temps in the summer is about 60 and you have to get numb to cool off. Yes a ocean breeze is nice but the Humidity it produces is unbearable. I'll take my pool out here anytime over a beach and if I want to see Eye Candy I can just go to a pool at any strip or DT casino and get all of the googling anyone would need..
