I belong to a pistol club. Our motto is "drink till 1, pistol 2".

Dos preguntas that maybe the OP and other shooters here would like to know the answers to:

1. Has the county shooting park improved since the opening? I went the first week and it was downright dangerous. They were running it like a Chinese fire drill. I didn't try the shotgun range though, and it looked more organized and well designed.

2. I've been wondering where people are shooting down around Sloan, and as we were returning from Cal yesterday, I could see that off of the Old LA Highway (LV BL S.) there were people up around some of the old mines that looked like they were probably shooting. But it's within sight of I-15. Does Metro allow shooting in that area, or is there a better place out of sight of the highway?

Paper target shooting is not much fun. I'd much rather plink cans, etc., but I don't want to murder small animals like some people do.

That's exactly why I'm getting ready to buy one of these.

Another vote for the Clark County Shooting Park at the northern edge of town on Decatur. It's a long drive for me, but the facility is fantastic and the prices are reasonable.

If you drive south on Vegas Blvd. Make a right by mile marker 12. Drive out about a mile or 2 and you will see plenty of people shooting in little coves into the side of a mountain. The road turns into gravel, but it can be done with a car...just drive slow. I go here about once a month and by all the shell casings there, I am not alone

I second nevadashooters.com. There is a list of places to shoot outside all around the city.

Is it right or left? Isn't I-15 on the right? Do I cross under I-15?

That looks like something that could cause this to happen.

It's NOT in the Las Vegas area -- or even Nevada -- but for some reason, some Las Vegans go to this outdoor range near SW Utah:

Southern Utah Shooting Sports Park -- Where our 2nd Ammendment rights are not forgotten!

Because they have breakfast at the Bear-claw, lunch at Cracker Barrel, and pick up some fresh produce at Frei's. And after getting off on shooting guns they can go look at dead animals at the Wildlife Museum.

Ill give another vote for american shooters. The clark county range is much closer to me, but the days i want to shoot it is either really windy and dusty or too fricken hot to go there. American shooters is $10/day range time for military/1st responders.
