I finally went to City Center for the first time last night. Now I only went to Aria, but that was enough for me. I cannot believe this place is the most expensive casino ever built in Vegas. It is dark and gloomy in Aria, and there is nothing there to set the place apart from the other casinos on the strip. I think the other MGM properties are much nicer and livelier. Planet Hollywood, and even the Flamingo blows that place away. I was wondering why all the people hired there have disappeared, but now I know the reason. Both of my friends from Arizona were also disappointed because they were really looking forward to seeing it, but they left in disgust.

The FLAMINGO blows this place away????? OUCH!

[Trivia...Rose Marie was the headlining act on the night The Flamingo was opened. And yes, she's still kickin!]

If they can't appeal to the great unwashed masses (like lvdrunk), then this place is in trouble. Seriously. Do people really want to visit a place that takes itself so seriously? Vegas is about extravagance and fantasy, and fun. CityCenter feels like going to work instead of a fun weekend vacation. It's one big clusterfu*k , but I'm sure they will figure out how to make it work by redeveloping. It has great potential.

I think it already is in trouble. I saw lots of dealers standing around empty tables, and this was at nighttime. The place has a depressing aura about it. Anyone else who has been to Aria knows what I am talking about.

I was there between XMAS and New Year. I think City Center was a big waste of money and I can't see how it will survive. I know I won't go back, I will continue to visit my other strip favorites.

Encore, Wynn, Bellagio, M, all have nicer Casinos.
Ate at the Cafe in Aria opening weekend. The service (our waiter, anyways) was terrible. The Manger was awesome though and made up for the bad service.
Went to the top floors in the hotels and checked out the rooms and the view, nice. A maid let us into an empty room to see it. Nice.
Crystals (the mall) needs a Whole Foods, I wonder why that didnt happen.

My sense of it was, meh, another Casino.....

Dark and gloomy?

You mean like the lobby of The Hotel @ Mandalay Bay which I love so much?

If so, I must check it out.

I have astigmatism and bright lighting is not relaxing to me.

Even for bars, the darker the better, the more I can relax.

You will definitely love Aria if that is what you like.

I think the funny thing is that they were bragging that Aria is the only natural light casino in Vegas. Which cant be true, cause the Encore casino looks out over the pool.

I am pretty sure that the marketed image of extravagance and fantasy is over now. Vegas will need to reinvent itself again to survive the current economic conditions.
