Got a letter in the mail stating that the commitee was short by 3 people and if they didnt get any volunteers within the community then they would hire outsiders.

I have heard a lot of HOA horror stories, but when I was looking for a home earlier this year, the Non-HOA neighborhoods I looked at seems kind of run down or poorly kept. The HOA neighborhoods all were in good shape. I wound up choosing a home in a HOA - just $10 a month and could not be happier. By the way, I had two HOA violations before I even moved in, but I knew both items needed repaired and I was happy to take care of those problems.

Yeah to be fair the HOA's that are totally minimal in the range of $50 or under seem to not go nuts. My grandmother is in one in 89014 that isn't bad but also isn't good.
