No, it's a TJ Rubicon. I would love to have a CJ. If you are referring to my name, there is no relation.

I absolutely love it. I cannot wait to get it out in the desert of SoNev. I have been to Moab once and just had a blast. It is amazing off road and as a daily driver.

Default Catallytic converter theft

I'm in Chicago and just had my stolen from my 1998 Jeep. Looks like someone got munder my Jeep and took it in the middle of the night ... sawed right through the pipes on either side.

Any suggestions of "under body armor" would be appreciated.

I have a customer with several work trucks kept in a fenced in area at night. All Chevrolet's. Came in Friday 11/2/07 to begin work and had 2 converters stollen & 2 cut but still in place [must have been too hard to remove because of crossmember interferance. One was taken from a Trailblazer & one from a Venture mini van. Both were cut from Chevrolet 2500 4x4's but not taken. Found out from my tow truck driver that it is a real problem. One shop he tows for had converters taken from every vehicle on his lot one morning!!! If the laws would allow removing thieves hands instead of just slapping them these types of problems would stop!!!! I think a sawzall would remove hands quicker than they remove catalytic converters!!!!!

they steal them here too ? that sucks haha apparently they steal them cuz some converters contain tiny pieces of platinum in them. also, it technically is possible to drive without a cat. converter. a friend of mine had a mustang gt and took of his cats and replaced them with bolt on tubing to fill up the space and put the cats back on for smog testing.

Running without cats is common for performance applications. I know it is illegal to install a used cat converter by a shop. So they must be for the black market or they are melting them down for the metals (very little expensive metals in the cat material itself)

true. very minuscule amounts of platinum in there. but since platinum is quite expensive, if they were to steal the cats off at least 100 cars, im sure it would be a considerable gain. its a shame that people try to steal that stuff. even rims and tail gates
