That is the very reason why we don't use our cover. One the first day, one of our dogs fell in the pool and went under the cover. We dove in after him... Never again a cover

While we're discussing dogs and pools, now may be a good time to bring this up. My neighbor has two non-swimming elderly dogs - one accidentally fell in not too long ago and nearly drowned. Fortunately, their daughter saw the incident and was able to rescue the dog before it was too late. Since then, they installed one of these dog ramps.

Obviously, this is of little use with a pool cover, but still it's something to consider if your pets cannot get out of the pool by themselves. It just may save your dog's life someday.

Those folks even have doggy life vests! Cute. My dogs would eat them.

Since Y/S brought up the subject, I am considering getting a solar pool covers for my (weirdly) shaped pool as well, My one question is, when dirt / leaves / etc settle on the cover, how do you pull the cover off so all the debris doesn't just fall into the pool?

Jonathan

I think this whole thing probably sounds easier than it is.

Better have a dog house, and use only a pool cover if your not at home. Its very important because it will maintain the cleanliness of your pool.
