The last thing I need to do to complete the remodel of our condo is the tub in the master bath. Re-bath was out today and wanted me to do a $6K replacement. That's as much as I spent on the rest of the remodel. I think you can have the tub and tile sprayed to make it look new for less than $1K.

Have any of you Las Vegas residents had any of this type of work done and who did you have do it.

This is a vacation property and we're only here for 4 - 5 days at a time 5 - 6 times a year.

Spraying is for rehab flippers trying to make it look nice on the cheap. Over the course of a few months, it will crack due to the expansion and contraction due to hot and cold temperatures in the tub.

If you are feeling brave it is not an impossible DIY. Tricky and awkward more than hard.

I have a guy who has done two for my clients. I will send you his phone number. Basically buy whatever you want and he will install.

I don't remember your unit but you have to partially redo the tile to get the clearance to get the new unit in. Sometimes that ends up with redoing the tile in the bathroom.

I've replaced more than a couple tubs. It's replacing the tile that gets you in trouble. The tub has a lip that goes up under the tile. And knowing you can never get tile to match what you are going to replace..... I would investigate having it refinished.

Sort of confused. I would always replace a tub first unless it was freestanding or something like that.

If the tile is nice you replace what you have to with some sort of a border row in between. You can almost always work something out...or if you don't like it replace it all. The trick is not to have to do over the whole bathroom...and that is left to the student as an exercise.

I had Re-Bath out to my condo a little over 2 years ago. The price they quoted me was about the same as yours. They next thing they said was they wanted 50% up front before they started! Needless to say the only front they saw from me was the door.

I used a tub refinsher out of the yellow pages. He charged me $245.00 to repair stress cracks on the garden tub floor, and the tub looks great! I was told repair could last for years and if it does crack again, I could simply have the repair done again. I was very pleased especially for the price of replacing a tub! Check online under Dex yellow pages for listings.
