OK, that's 2 out of 50 wards. Very clean politics compared to the cesspool.

Explain to us all how Morgan Quinto's methodology is flawed. And you come up with 2, yes 2, yes 2 corrupt potiticians in Chicago out of 50 wards, and you claim that is worse than the cesspool. Hey, I got an idea---why doesn't someone build a 20,000 seat arena at Flamingo and Koval.

All states have their problems. Nobody will ever get away form it. Sometimes we need to just grin and bear it.
That's what many people in Nevada have been fighting for years and years. I don't mind that 83% of the state is BLM land and open range. I'd hate to see the handful of ranchers in this state fence us all out like they have elsewhere. It's already sickening to see that 16,000 homes and a casino will be constructed at the Kyle Canyon Road, and that thousands already have surrounded and completely ruined Tule Springs. Our open land should stay that way...open.

i agree completely...to toss out another abbey quote "growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell". too many western treasures have been spoiled by the sprawl.

maybe heyduke will show up and pull out a few stakes...

yeah, i kinda know what u mean, cj and buzz. when i left lv for rural ok i just hated it. hated rural ok for the lack of convienences. took me 8 yr to grow to like it. when i first moved out to there (1989, Laverne, OK) i would pass huge pastures of wheat and alfalfa and think, "in 10 yrs this will be gone. sold and homes built onto it." I am so glad that i was wrong about that. I would never want to go back there (weather reasons) but it is nice to know that it still exists.

explanation of flawed methodology (taken from the Morgan Quinto press site):

Morgan Quitno’s annual rankings of crime in states, metro areas and cities are considered by some in the law enforcement community as controversial.

The FBI, police and many criminologists caution against rankings according to crime rates. They correctly point out that crime levels are affected by many different factors, such as population density, composition of the population (particularly the concentration of youth), climate, economic conditions, strength of local law enforcement agencies, citizen’s attitudes toward crime, cultural factors, education levels, crime reporting practices of citizens and family cohesiveness. Accordingly, crime rankings often are deemed “simplistic” or “incomplete.” However, this criticism is largely based on the fact that there are reasons for the differences in crime rates, not that the rates are incompatible. This would be somewhat akin to deciding not to compare athletes on their speed in the 100-yard dash because of physical or training differences. Such differences help explain the different speeds but do not invalidate the comparisons.

To be sure, crime-ranking information must be considered carefully. However the rankings tell not only an interesting, but also very important story regarding the incidence of crime in the United States. Furthermore, annual rankings not only allow for comparisons among different states and cities, but also enable leaders to track their communities’ crime trends from one year to the next.

We certainly do not want to be irresponsible in our presentation of state and city crime data. Our publications help concerned Americans learn how their communities fare in the fight against crime. The first step in making our cities and states safer is to understand the true magnitude of their crime problems. This will only be achieved through straightforward data that all of us can use and understand.

i know you have a problem comprehending things, sheriff, so here is what it basically says: all statistical compilations are open to interpretation based on the calculations used. The very study you quote so often and highly states this as a disclamer because it is true. the major importance of these surveys is that allows a metro areas to track their own crime trends on a year to year basis (something which is very hard in LV as it is grwoing so fast).

i'd repeat that whole thing (cause i know how you like to repeat yourself), but it has gotten kinda stale.

so...you ever going to answer my question?
