Sheriff is the eternal optimist......but I agree with you AA.....IF I were gonna be a "certified gun tottin bad man gang banger" I would certainley learn to shoot...so much amunition....so little accomplished......
My solution to the gang problerm is so simple.....round em up....give em all guns and unlimited ammo...lock em in the Silver Bowl....shoot the last one standing.

Some 3rd world countries actually have the "instant justice theory". I know of a place where the police are actually armed like the military (m-16's, body armour, humvees with 50 cal guns). They will scope out who the leaders of these drug, crime cartels and assasinate them in front of the general public and show this in the press. Basically saying that if you want to live by the gun, you will die by the gun (forget the court system or jail). This works in those countries because the criminals know they will not get away with the crimes they commit. You show anything about someone getting shot by a cop here in America and the cops will end up as the "bad guys". I really feel sorry for our police because they have their hands tied behind their backs. Just like our soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan. So so sad!

It all depends on whether you are drinking, or pouring. Generally, half full is optimistic.

Look at Britney Spears, her new Single is the #1 according to digital music sources. Its sad but true!

Bad news is the news; as NO news is good news. Perhaps you can share with us all some of the feelgood news from LV.

Its good news because its my good news and I'm in Vegas My point being that everyone has good news in their lives and you just take it for granted. I'm sure you have a lot of good news but you prefer to enter the bad news the media is always bring forth to you. You're one of the reasons that those media has such high ratings. Do you wake up everyday and think of the bad things that had happended to you? I wake up and enjoy a nice hearty breakfast and look outside and see a nice clear day in Las Vegas with good air quality and awesome weather. Maybe you can post some bad news from you "eye witness" account for a change. Anyone can look at KVBC or KTNV's website and get all that information.

The answer, in a nutshell...is yes. LV is starting to be viewed by the outside world as not only a dangerous place, but also as a playground for LA. Now, while those like olecapt and others may have stats that show otherwise, I do know people who have visited LV for years past that no longer do. Yes, yes... we all know its a "drop in the bucket" and "you don't need our money anyway, you'll get it from others"...but when occupancy figures start to decline, and are bolstered by a decrease in average room rate, don't say that the handwriting (in the form of grafitti) wasn't on the wall. Attendance my very well be up...but can all be from a certain area, such as LA.
Sheriff, to answer your question...yes, visitors are strating to take notice of the increased crime.

So far the numbers are up in tourism. Plus McCarran #'s are up also. I dont know anyone that thinks the "strip" is a dangerous place. A large # of people from CA do tend to come here because its only 4 hours in a car and 50 bucks in a 45 min plane ride. The casinos also cater to a lot of Asian gamblers that come from Asia and CA. Not to mention all the hotels and casinos they are building, I think those guys did their homework if there was going to be a negative in demand for rooms and gaming. Seriously the last person I remember getting murdered on the resort corridor was Tupac Shakur in 1996
