(Numbers added to quote)

1) Every weekend during the Fall and Spring at the Mexican grocery stores.

2) Yes, almost every weekend

3) It's better

Haven't gotten sick once, either. Unlicensed street food can do that to you sometimes.

When the Fiesta opened I saw George Maloof in the casino and went up to thank him for bring Garduño's here from Albuquerque. He is also from there and I'm sure is old friends with the Garduño family. At that time you had to drive to New Mexico to find Hatch green chilis, so I told him he should bring in some truckloads and roast them by the bushel like they do all over Albuquerque. He thought that was a good idea, and the next fall, and for several years after, he not only sold bags of roasted green chilis, he had a big fiesta in the parking lot with bands, and food tents, etc.

Garduño's call themselves a Mexican restaurant. It is really good New Mexican food, which IMO is better than Mexican. The three here are not as good as the ones in New Mexico, probably because it's hard for them to maintain quality from that far away, but they are about the only NEW Mexican food you can get here. They aren't even the best in New Mexico, but that just shows you how high the bar is set over there.

Had to mention them even though they are in casinos.

Even the most authentic Mexican food in town still reminds me I'm in America...and proud to eat it here.

For the best Americanized/Tex Mex I go with Ricardo's. It's really fine Tex Mex...but given their history (used to go to the Eastern/Tropicana location before it closed and burned down) they have added some very nice, and rather authentic, additions to the menu over the years.

For more authentic...I have to go with Frank and Fina's and Lindo Michoacan.

When it comes to tacos...there are few in the world I enjoy as much as Pepe's Tacos. Their tacos al pastor are beyond delicious. Layers of marinated pork are placed on a tall spit and held down with an onion on top. You see it right when you walk in the door at their North Fremont location. They shave it fresh when you order it. So highly craveable...you'll be pleased to know they're open all night.

Their Lengua tacos are also really, really good.

Funny you mention Pepes

Years ago when I worked at the bank and Pepe would always come in to make a deposit for the days take. He was loud, arrogant, and pushy. Until you put him in his place and he wasn't so bad. Excellent food however.

Default Tex-Mex cusine

I can't disagree with this article although it isn't written very well. Not clear enough IMO. Tex-Mex - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Of course it is also the language of Texans of Mexican descent. ½ English & ½ Spanish. Another word for that is Spanglish.

Two weeks ago we were at the Albertsons on Buffalo and they were roasting hatch chilis outside the store. My wife wanted to buy some but you had to buy a bushel at a time and we were leaving in two days. Plus we never cook when we're there.

Don't put money on that bet Buzz
80,500 legally here
probably about 200,000 more who are illegally here.
About 300,000 in Nashville.
