I don't believe that it includes children as registered offenders. I highly doubt that state and/or FBI regulations would allow children's name and addresses to be released.

Is this a case of 'What happens in Vegas...tries to stay in Vegas????' How come this is kept so quiet and unknown? Everyone knows about the huge number of car thefts...but not the huge ratio of sex offenders?
It isn't kept quiet, it's in the news almost every night. But you just seem to have a vendetta against us Las Vegans and are exaggerating. No one denies it is a huge problem. I'm just saying your numbers are flawed. Did you even say where you got those numbers from? If you did I missed it. Also, I didn't say anything about children as registered sex offenders but children do commit rape on other children. I guess what I don't like is that you are in a panic about Las Vegas as THE sex crime capital of the world. It isn't. It may even be a worse problem in small towns throughout the country since they don't have anything else to do like we have. And that's not exaggerating, or quoting flawed studies, it's what I've seen for myself.

Back to exercises in the park for moms and kids...I haven't heard of any, but if I do I'll let you know. Maybe my daughter will know of something. In the meantime, call the parks and rec departments for Clark County, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson and suggest it. Maybe they will start one. My bet would be on Henderson first.

The stats are wrong. They are using las vegas addresses as the criteria...ie there are some in 89135 which is not in the city of Las Vegas. They should have used metro population of around 1.2 million so they are off by a fctor of around 3.

There... cured an infestation of sex offenders in only a few minutes.

That mistake happens all the time. At one point the FBI had metro crime with Las Vegas City population. Did really great things for the crime rate.

See link below, then click on the sex offender stat, and this site will tell you where it gets their numbers.

Children who commit rape on other children ARE UNDERAGE SEX OFFENDERS! If a 12 year old boy rapes a 3 year old girl...it is a sex offense. My point is that I do not believe that these are included in the 1,281 registered offenders.

Data shown below can be found by clicking link below:

Zip codes: 89101, 89102, 89103, 89104, 89106, 89107, 89108, 89109, 89110, 89113, 89115, 89117, 89118, 89119, 89120, 89121, 89122, 89123, 89124, 89128, 89129, 89130, 89131, 89134, 89135, 89139, 89141, 89142, 89143, 89144, 89145, 89146, 89147, 89148, 89149, 89156.

According to our research there were 1281 registered sex offenders living in Las Vegas, Nevada in early 2007.
The ratio of number of residents in Las Vegas to the number of sex offenders is 425 to 1.

I wouldn't trust any of the figures on a messy site like that, but it is obvious that they are using City of Las Vegas population figures against zip code info from outside the city limits. Olecapt has the ratio right. But what's the point of all of this false information? Is it to make Las Vegas look worse than other cities? I think so.
